St Mirren secures loan of Celtic's Hyeokkyu Kwon
St Mirren have confirmed the loan acquisition of Korean midfielder Hyeokkyu Kwon from Celtic until the end of the season.
The 22-year-old signed a five-year deal with the Premiership leaders in July, joining from Busan I-Park.
With the departure of Keanu Baccus to the Asian Cup with Australia, St Mirren's manager Stephen Robinson felt the need to reinforce the midfield.
"It was an area we needed to strengthen in midfield and with Keanu away at the Asian Cup it was important that we strengthened there," Robinson stated.
Robinson praised Kwon, noting, "He’s a player that comes highly recommended."
"He breaks up play really well and he can start play really well for us as well," said Robinson.
"Celtic were very keen for him to come to us which is a complement to the coaching staff here.
"We believe that he [Hyeokkyu] will come in and add that strength. I’ve had some good conversations with Brendan Rodgers about him and we’re delighted to have him in," he concluded.
