Mulvenna on the comeback trail
Dundalk have been boosted by the news that young striker Tiaran Mulvenna is inching closer to a comeback following a knee injury he picked up in pre-season.
The 21-year-old was one of the first players that Ian Foster offered a contract to when he took over at Oriel Park this season, but he has been unable to use the talented player yet due to his injury.
However, Mulvenna could be in the mix to feature over the next two weeks if he comes through a reserve match without any problems and his knee reacts well following an operation that he had.
"I’m just getting back into it now. I haven’t played since October so I’m just trying to get fit again," Mulvenna told the club's official website.
"I’m working hard even after training. The knee seems to be okay, so it’s just a case of getting my fitness back now.
"I started back to full training last Wednesday and have been at it every day since then. I’m going to try to go at it for a good ten days flat out and see how it is then.
"Hopefully, I’ll get back into the swing of things and then get back into the reckoning for the squad. I feel grand, but I’m obviously not match-fit yet so hopefully I’ll play 90 minutes in a reserve game and start from there."
Meanwhile, the Lilywhites have completed the signing of midfielder Stephen McDonnell and he should be available for selection for the game against Sporting Fingal.
