Marc Ludden calls time on League of Ireland career
Treaty United captain Marc Ludden has called time on a League of Ireland career that spanned 14 seasons and over 400 appearances.
In that period the 33-year-old Galwegian has represented Mervue United, Galway United, and most recently Treaty United.
“All good things come to an end,” he said on X (formerly Twitter).
“After 14 seasons and more than 400 games in the LOI, my time has come to retire.
“I’ve met some incredible people along this journey and I will be forever grateful for the memories and the laughs.
"To Mervue United, Galway United, and Treaty United, thank you for the opportunity and pleasure of putting on your jersey every week.
“It was an honour to represent my home county for so long, and I couldn’t have predicted how much I enjoyed the last three years playing with Treaty.”
Treaty United manager Tommy Barrett heaped praise on his outgoing captain in the wake of his announcement.
“Marc has been an absolute pleasure to work with and from day one he’s been a positive influence around the squad and a great leader and captain, he will be sorely missed,” he added.
“I have the utmost respect for Marc as a player and a person and I wish him and his family the very best in the future, they will always be welcome at Treaty United.”
