Hoops Head Coach Stephen Bradley will be able to call upon the services of midfielder Markus Poom for the full 2024 season.

The Estonian international has extended his loan from Flora Tallinn so he will play his football in Tallaght once again this year.

Only Pico Lopes played more times for the Hoops in all competitions last season than Poom who had 37 appearances in total (including 28 league starts). He chipped in with three league goals, including this spectacular shot in the Dublin derby in Dalymount Park.

Head Coach, Stephen Bradley, speaking to shamrockrovers.ie said: “We all saw Markus’ quality and what he brought to the club last year. We were very keen on bringing that back again this year. I spoke with Markus before he went home from the break with the international team, and he was very keen to come back himself.

“It was just going to take a bit of time because he’s a Flora player and we had to speak to them, but it was pretty clear that we wanted Markus back, and he wanted to come back, so we’re absolutely delighted to get it done.

“Coming from a different country and different culture, as the game is played slightly differently over there compared to our league, it was always going to take him a little bit of time to adjust to that, but I felt that once he did, we saw his quality and how much balance he gave us as a team.

"He’s a really good player, one that we worked extremely hard to get back and I think he showed the reasons why last year.”
