Blackburn Rovers welcome Brighton midfielder Yasin Ayari on loan
Blackburn Rovers have announced the loan signing of Yasin Ayari, a 20-year-old midfielder from Brighton & Hove Albion. Ayari's arrival marks the club's first move in the January transfer window.
Ayari began his career in Sweden with AIK, debuting at just 17. He emerged as a key player in 2022, scoring four goals in 24 league games. His performances earned him a spot in the Sweden national team, debuting in a friendly win over Finland in January 2023.
Following a successful period at AIK with 48 appearances, Ayari made a significant move to Brighton, signing a four-and-a-half-year deal. His Brighton tenure included debuts in the FA Cup and the Premier League.
Before joining Rovers, Ayari experienced English football with a loan spell at Coventry City. He scored in his full home debut against Huddersfield Town and caught the eye in a match against Rovers in October.
Gregg Broughton, Rovers’ Director of Football, expressed his delight about Ayari's signing. “We are delighted to make Yasin the first signing of the January transfer window," he said. Broughton highlighted Ayari's progression, "He had two seasons playing senior football for AIK in Sweden, before joining Brighton last January and going on to make his Premier League debut."
Broughton also commented on Brighton's history with Rovers. "We are delighted that they have allowed him to become their fourth player in recent years to join Blackburn Rovers on loan."
Praising Ayari's attributes, Broughton added, “As with all Brighton players, Yasin has good technical and physical attributes along with a great character." He noted Ayari's flexibility, "His ability to play in any of the midfield roles gives us good depth and competition in that area for the second half of the season.”
Ayari is set to join Andy Moran at Rovers and could make his debut in the FA Cup tie against Cambridge United. Broughton concluded with anticipation, “We look forward to seeing Yasin in our blue-and-white shirt over the coming weeks and months.”
