Canadian international Zadorsky swaps Spurs for West Ham in loan deal

Canadian international Shelina Zadorsky has moved to West Ham United on loan for the remainder of the 2023/24 season from Tottenham Hotspur.

The experienced 31-year-old defender, who has earned 95 caps for Canada, joins the Hammers after a successful stint with Spurs, where she made 72 appearances and captained the team to their best-ever WSL finish during the 2021/22 campaign.

Zadorsky, set to don the No14 shirt, has a rich footballing background, having played for various clubs internationally and in North America.

She brings a wealth of experience to West Ham, including her triumph at the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2021 with the Canadian national team.

Upon her signing, Zadorsky expressed her enthusiasm about the new chapter with West Ham United.

"I’m delighted to be joining West Ham United. Being a defender, I hope I can bring a new presence to the backline and ultimately, help the team to more clean sheets in the second half of the season."

"I think the club has so much potential. I’ve also worked with Rehanne [Skinner] before and we have a great relationship. She’s a coach that knows how to get the best out of me."

Zadorsky's football journey includes impressive college soccer for the Michigan Wolverines, captaining Ottawa Fury to a league title, and playing for Perth Glory in Australia, where she appeared in the W-League Grand Final.

Her professional career has seen her take leadership roles at Washington Spirit, where she was named Newcomer of the Year, and captaincy during her time at Orlando Pride before her tenure with Tottenham Hotspur.
