Ireland Under-21 midfielder Adam Murphy has signed a three-and-a-half-year deal with Championship side Bristol City.

The Dubliner, who joined St. Pats at under-15 level in 2020, moves to the Robins for an undisclosed fee after his contract with the Inchicore club ended.

He now joins fellow Irishmen Jason Knight and Mark Sykes with Bristol currently four points off the play-offs in 11th position.

“I’m delighted, it’s a huge club and a massive opportunity and I’m just looking forward to getting started,” said Murphy.

“The main attraction for me of Bristol City was the pathway for a young player into the first team. That’s what you want as a young player, to be given an opportunity and the club has proved countless times that it does that,” he said.

“Hopefully I can make that opportunity for myself and, if it comes along, I can take it.”

Bristol City technical director Brian Tinnion also spoke on the signing of Murphy.

“Adam is one of the brightest young talents in Irish football and we are delighted to sign him as he had other options offered to him.”

“We are looking forward to working with Adam and seeing him progress over the next few years,” said Tinnion.
