Cork City snap up former Blackburn Rovers youth Aidan Dowling
First Division promotion chasers Cork City have unveiled the signing of former Balckburn Rovers youth goalkeeper Aidan Dowling.
Dowling, 21, came through the ranks at Ewood Park and most recently lined out for Larne in the Northern Irish top-flight.
He is likely to replace outgoing City keepers Jimmy Corcoran and Tiernan Brooks who have both left the club after their relegation from the Premier Division.#
“I am delighted to be here,” Dowling said. “I spoke to the gaffer a few weeks ago about the opportunity, and I was really excited about it.
“It is a big club in a good league and it seems like there is a really good group of lads here.
“I’m a big physical keeper, I am 6 foot 5, so I like to try and be dominant, coming for crosses and, of course, keeping the ball out of the net!
“People talk about Cork City as being one of the biggest clubs on this island, so I was really excited at the prospect of coming here.
“It is an opportunity for me to try and make an impression on this league and show people what I can do, so I can’t wait to get started.”
