Chris Hughton names his AFCON Ghana squad
Ghana Manager Chris Hughton has named his squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.
The former Republic of Ireland international and assistant manager has named a 27 players squad just ahead of Wednesday’s squad deadline.
Players to watch out for from Ghana are West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus and Lyon striker Ernest Nuamah, along with Arsenal’s Thomas Partey and Crystal Palace’s Andre Ayew.
The Black Starts have won four AFCON tournaments down the years and this is their 24th appearance in the competition.
They will face the most successful country in the competition seven time winners Egypt, along with Cape Verde (who have included Shamrock Rovers’ Pico Lopes in their squad) and Mozambique.
Hughton’s team will face Cape Verde in their first game on Sunday 14 January in the Stade Felix Houphouet in Abidjan.
Ghana secured their ticket to the tournament with a win over the Central African Republic 2-1 on the last day of qualification to top Group E.
