Bohemians have parted company with midfielders Mia Dodd and Ciara Maher as new boss Ken Kiernan looks to put his stamp on the Dalymount Park outfit.

Playmaker Dodd, 21, and 23-year-old Maher helped the Gypsies to a best-ever finish of sixth place in the Women’s Premier Division last year.

But the former DLR Waves pair will seek a new challenge in 2024 as the top end of the table continues to become more competitive.

A Bohemians statement read: “Bohemian FC can today confirm the departures of Ciara Maher and Mia Dodd.

“We thank both Ciara and Mia for their service to the club and we wish them the very best of luck for the future.”

Tallaght native Maher turned down advances from current champions Peamount United to join Bohs ahead of the 2022 season.

The box-to-box midfielder had come through the ranks in Greenogue before linking up with Kilkenny United in 2018 and moving on to Waves the following year.

Maher said on Twitter: “A massive thank you to everyone at @bfcdublin for the last 2 years. To all the staff, players, fans & volunteers who have made my time at the club so special.

“I’ve had the privilege of meeting some amazing people along the way. Wishing the team & club the very best of luck.”

Dubliner Dodd came through the ranks at Shelbourne and won the league in 2022 before joining Waves the following season and then moving on to Bohs.

She added on social media: “Thanks for everything, it’s been a pleasure.”

The duo will have no shortage of suitors with five Dublin clubs set to compete in the Premier Division again next season, with FAI Cup holders Athlone Town and Wexford also within commuting distance.
