Cretaro expects big things from Burke
Gary Burke is the latest wunderkid to make the step up to the Bohemians squad and Raffaele Cretaro thinks he has the potential to develop into a top-class player.
There is a long list of players who have graduated from the youth ranks at Bohs to become established first-team players and Burke is hoping to be next in line after being promoted to the fringes of Pat Fenlon's squad.
The tricky winger featured in the Setanta Sports Cup semi-final win over Linfield recently and will now be aiming to clock up as many minutes as he can for The Gypsies this season.
Cretaro has seen him in action during training and reckons he has a bright future ahead of him after being called into the Republic of Ireland U-19 squad for the recent friendlies against Poland.
"Gary Burke is a very promising young player. He is going to be a good player if he can progress and I'm sure he will," said Cretaro.
"He's just a small lad. He recently got called up to the Ireland U-19 team. Pat [Fenlon] is trying to get him in on a full-time basis.
"He is an out and out winger, who is full of confidence and just wants to get on the ball. He is very comfortable in his own ability.
"His body weight doesn't allow him to take on defenders as they would just push him to one side, but when he gets on the ball he tends to move very quickly and he can see a pass."
