Shaunagh McCarthy re-signs for Cork City

Cork City have announced Shaunagh McCarthy as the latest player to commit to the club ahead of the 2024 League of Ireland season.

The midfielder spoke with the club’s media team saying: “I’m delighted to be re-signing for Cork City. Its an honour each year.

“Last year’s results weren’t the best, but I’m sure that we can improve on them and show the league what we are capable of.

“On a personal note, I was absolutely over the moon to receive player of the year. In a tough season, it was great to be recognised by my own team-mates and the staff and this will only drive me on again next year to reach a new level.”

McCarthy made her first team debut back in 2019 as an academy graduate having impressed with her local club Wilton United.

She has made 80 appearances for the club in her career and scored one goal last season.
