Rob Manley among host of Galway United departures

Striker Rob Manley is set to depart Galway United after the end of his deal at Eamon Deacy Park.

The former Cabinteely, Longford Town and Bray Wanderers hitman played a bit-part role for the Tribesmen last season on their way to the First Division title.

But he has opted to leave John Caulfield’s men ahead of their top-flight return.

And he has left alongside now Sligo Rovers striker Wilson Waweru and Glenavon winger Darren Clarke.

Mikie Rowe has also exited for Wexford whereas Oisin O’Reilly, Alex Rutter and Evan O’Connor have also departed.

“We wish Wilson well, he had a good time in his years at Galway but didn’t want to come back for 2024 so we are in the process of settling the compensation fee with Sligo Rovers,” Caulfield said.

“We also would like to thank all the players who made a massive contribution to our league winning campaign in 2023 and have moved on. Mikie Rowe, Rob Manley, Darren Clarke, Oisin O’Reilly, Evan O’Connor and Alex Rutter”
