Killarney youngster and academy graduate Aaron O’Sullivan has re-signed with Kerry FC for 2024, following the club's first season in the League of Ireland.

O’Sullivan, who recently turned 20, served as the backup goalkeeper for the 2023 season, making six appearances for the Kingdom and keeping one clean sheet.

“I’m delighted to re-sign with Kerry FC ahead of the new season and it’s a very proud moment for me and my family,” he said.

“I am buzzing to get back playing again in front of the amazing fans in Mounthawk Park and I’m excited to get back working with the management team and goalkeeper coaches.”

O’Sullivan’s debut came on a famous night when Kerry won their first-ever League of Ireland game, where he lined out in goals in a 3-2 away win against Athlone.

First-team head coach Conor McCarthy spoke about the young goalkeeper’s re-signing ahead of the new season.

“We’re delighted to have Aaron re-signed for 2024,” he said.

“He played a key role in several games where we picked up points last season. Aaron was very unlucky to pick up an injury towards the end of the season, but hopefully, this season he can stay injury-free and have a big impact on the group.”

O’Sullivan’s re-signing comes shortly after the departures of some key first-team players, including Leo Gaxha, Sean Kennedy, Alex Ainscough, and goalkeeper Arthur Nganou.

Kerry FC begin their second season in the League of Ireland with a Munster Derby against Cork City at Turner’s Cross.
