Leo Gaxha joins newly promoted Galway United

Leo Gaxha has signed for newly promoted Galway United ahead of the 2024 Premier Division season.

The Tralee native has departed Kerry FC after their first season in senior football to link up with the First Division champions.

“Galway are a huge club. It was the hardest game we had in the league last season and now it’s good to be part of that team. I’m really looking forward to it,” the 21 year old said, speaking to the club’s website.

Gaxha began his career with Kerry and progressed through their underage ranks before joining Sheffield United in 2018.

He remained with the Blades before signing for Kerry ahead of their inaugural season in the League of Ireland First Division in 2023.

The forward scored seven times in 31 appearances as Kerry finished in tenth place in the League of Ireland’s second tier.
