Nottingham Forest announced that Steve Cooper has been relieved of his role as head coach.

Cooper's departure from The City Ground comes after a period in which he played a crucial role in the club's ascent back into the Premier League.

Appointed in September 2021, Cooper was pivotal in Forest's remarkable climb through the Championship table, leading them to the play-offs.

This journey reached its zenith with a victory over Huddersfield Town at Wembley Stadium in May 2022, securing their place in the Premier League.

Following this achievement, Cooper managed the team in 55 Premier League matches.

Evangelos Marinakis, the owner of Nottingham Forest, expressed gratitude for Cooper's contributions.

“Everyone at Nottingham Forest would like to thank Steve for his superb contribution to our football club. His achievement in guiding Forest back to the Premier League will undoubtedly remain an iconic moment in the Club’s history," he said.

Marinakis also acknowledged Cooper's dedication and the strong bond he formed with the club's supporters and the city of Nottingham.

“Steve will always remain a friend of the Club and will forever be welcome at The City Ground. We wish him well in his future endeavours,” Marinakis added.

As Nottingham Forest prepares for its next chapter, speculation mounts that the club is in discussions with former Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo to take over the head coach position. An official announcement regarding the new appointment is expected soon.

Currently, Nottingham Forest stands 17th in the 2023 Premier League, having won three, drawn five, and lost nine of their 17 games, accumulating 14 points.

The team's recent form has seen them lose to Brighton, Everton, and Fulham, draw with Wolves, and suffer a defeat against Spurs.
