Ramblers confirm re-signing of Jason Abbott and Matt McKevitt

Jason Abbott and Matt McKevitt have re-signed with Cobh Ramblers ahead of the 2024 League of Ireland season.

“With Jason leading the group last season, I knew that it would be important to make sure I got him over the line,” Ramblers manager Gary Hunt said, speaking to the club’s website.

“From watching the squad last season you could see the qualities he brought to the team and I am looking forward to working alongside him for 2024. I know he will be one of many who will give their all for the Rams in the season ahead.

“Matt is an exciting player and I am looking forward to seeing what he can do. I’m sure with a good pre-season behind him he can really show his qualities in 2024.

“He will certainly give his all I am sure and that quality alone will go far in a group where hard work will be the absolute minimum requirement.”

Abbott has made over 100 appearances for Cobh across three spells with the club having joined most recently during the summer transfer window in 2021 from Cobh Wanderers. He also has had stints with UCC and Cork City.

McKevitt joined the club from Avondale United midway through 2023 and has had spells with Waterford, UCC and Treaty United.
