Joe Redmond has extended his stay at Richmond Park for 2024 by signing a new long-term contract with the Saints.

The Tallaght native is set to return for a third season in Inchicore, following a remarkable 2023 season where he captained the Saints to FAI Cup glory.

Since joining St. Patrick's Athletic from Drogheda United in 2022, Redmond has made 67 appearances.

He has played a pivotal role in St. Pat's backline, particularly alongside David Norman during the latter half of the season.

Redmond's signing is part of an impressive series of signings and re-signings by St. Pats, including Ruairi Keating, Conor Keeley, Aaron Bolger, and both Kavanaghs from Derry City.

“I’m delighted to get it all sorted and my main focus is now on next season and helping the club kick on again,” said Redmond.

“I’m really confident in the group we have and the new players that we’ve brought in. Those of us who were here last year have a taste for silverware now, and we’re all hungry for a bit more.

"The club is really growing and going in the right direction, as is the League of Ireland overall, and that’s what made the decision for me.”

Saints Manager Jon Daly said, “Joe committing his long-term future to the club is excellent news. Since signing at the beginning of the 2022 season, he’s gone from strength to strength."

"He is one of the best centre backs in the country and will continue to play a key role for us on and off the pitch. We all saw what the club means to Joe after the final. He’s a hugely important player, and we’re all delighted that he’ll be here for the next few years.”
