Waterford sign Darragh Leahy from Dundalk
Following their recent signing of Robbie McCourt, Waterford have returned to Oriel Park to source their next defensive signing, announcing Darragh Leahy's arrival for an undisclosed fee.
The 25-year-old Dubliner, who had spells with Malahide United and St Kevin's Boys as a teen before moving to Coventry City, is comfortable as a left back or a left-sided centre half.
During his four years at Dundalk, following his arrival from Bohemians, he won an FAI Cup and represented the club in the Europa League Group Stages.
With international underage caps up to the Under-21 level and over 130 Premier Division appearances, the defender will bring a wealth of experience to the newly promoted Blues.
Speaking with Waterford's media team, their new signing enthused about joining the club:
“I’m absolutely delighted – it’s a massive club that’s on the up, and I can’t wait to get going. I’m only 25, but I’ve played a lot of games [in the Premier Division]. I’d like to think it will stand to the team; they obviously have winners in the squad by winning the playoff and getting promoted, so I can’t wait to get involved and help the team.
“I’ve played some of my best football under Keith [Long] at Bohs, and once I heard there was a bit of interest there, I wanted to get everything sorted, and thankfully it is now.
“I really can’t wait to play at the RSC next season. I know it's probably a cliché, but when I played here with Dundalk in 2022 in the FAI Cup, the place was rocking. So I can’t wait to be a home player in front of that.”
