Shamrock Rovers to host Dundalk on opening night of 2024 season as full fixtures are revealed

The League of Ireland fixtures for the 2024 season have been released with the campaigns for the SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division, SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division and SSE Airtricity Men’s First Division all revealed.

In an exciting opening weekend in the SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division, Shamrock Rovers, who will go in search of a record fifth consecutive title success, will host Dundalk at Tallaght Stadium.

Meanwhile, newcomers Galway United welcome 2023 Sports Direct Men’s FAI Cup winners St Patrick’s Athletic to Eamonn Deacy Park.

In the SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division, champions Peamount United go to Turner’s Cross to play Cork City and Sports Direct Women’s FAI Cup winners Athlone Town welcome Avenir Sports All-Island Cup holders Galway United on the opening day.

With over 450 fixtures live on the LOITV Season Pass, there’s also a Munster Derby in the SSE Airtricity Men’s First Division to look forward to as Kerry visit Turner’s Cross to play Cork City for the first time.

The second weekend of the SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division sees two Dublin Derbies with Shelbourne hosting Shamrock Rovers while a repeat of the Sports Direct Men’s FAI Cup Final takes place when St. Patrick’s Athletic face Bohemians.

The final day of the SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division season will see The Louth Derby between Drogheda United and Dundalk while Derry City host Shelbourne and Shamrock Rovers welcome newly promoted Waterford.

The Men’s Promotion/Relegation Play-Off will take place on Friday, 8 November with the winners of the SSE Airtricity Men’s First Division Play-Offs taking on the second-from-bottom team in the SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division for the final place in the top flight.

The dates for the 2024 Sports Direct Men’s and Women’s FAI Cups have also been revealed. With the Preliminary Round now becoming the First Round of the Sports Direct Men’s FAI Cup, League of Ireland Clubs will begin their campaigns in the Second Round.

The 2024 Sports Direct Men’s FAI Cup Final will be held on Sunday, 10 November 2024 at the Aviva Stadium while the Sports Direct Women’s FAI Cup Final will take place on Sunday, 20 October 2024.



The Women’s All-Island Cup dates for the 2024 season are also revealed with the competition entering its second year with a Quarter-Final round added as the competition begins on 23 March.

16 teams from the League of Ireland and the Northern Ireland Football League will once again take part and the final will take place on the week ending August 18.

As in the 2023 season, two sets of fixtures involving the four SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division teams competing in UEFA Club Competitions will be brought forward by a number of months to allow Derry City, Shamrock Rovers, Shelbourne and St. Patrick’s Athletic better preparation in between legs of their European ties.

These four fixtures will be played on Monday, 22 April and Monday, 20 May.

The mid-season break will take place from Friday, 13 June until fixtures resume on Friday, 28 June with the final fixtures before the break being played on Thursday, 12 June due to the beginning of the UEFA EURO 2024 on Friday, 13 June and the fixtures on Thursday, 4 July are also scheduled to avoid clashes with UEFA EURO 2024.
