Cork City re-sign Darragh Crowley and Malik Dijksteel
Cork City have confirmed the re-signings of duo Darragh Crowley and Malik Dijsteel ahead of the 2024 campaign.
The Rebel Army already unveiled the arrival of Jack Doherty and Charlie Lyons from Cobh Ramblers.
But the return of both Crowley and Dijksteel will provide a boost to Tim Clancy as he aims to regain their place in the topflight.
23-year-old Crowley is a graduate of the City underage academy and has made nearly 80 appearances for his home-town club since making his debut back in 2019.
His season was cut short early on as he suffered a serious knee injury prior to the summer break.
Commenting on the news, Crowley stated: “My rehab is going very well, and I am in the gym and out running several days a week now, so hopefully I will be able to start taking part in pre-season training and work my way back to fitness early in the season.
I am hoping to be a big part of Tim’s plans for 2024. For those of us who were here last year, we want to put things right”.
And he will be supplemented by promising young attacker Malik Dijksteel.
The pacy Dutch player who joined initially back in August but has now signed up for the 2024 season.
Tim Clancy welcomed the new addition saying: “He (Malik) obviously came in halfway through last season and showed glimpses of what he is capable of. It is a great opportunity for both him and us. When he is fully fit, he has really good attributes and I think he will be one to look out for next season.”
