First Division basement battlers Kerry have unveiled news that defender Kevin Williams has penned a new deal to keep him at the club.

The defender was understood to have piqued the interest of other clubs in the League of Ireland.

But Williams has opted to stay at Mounthawk Park for another year at least.

He went on to play a total of 34 of a possible 38 games for Kerry during the 2023 season, starting all of the 34 games he played.

“I am very much looking forward to the season ahead,” Williams said.

“I can’t wait to play in front of the fans again in Mounthawk Park once the season gets back underway in February.”

And the player will also be working alongside a new manager in 2024, with Conor McCarthy taking over the reins from former boss Billy Dennehy.

“We’re delighted to sign Kevin ahead of the 2024 season,” McCarthy said.

“Kevin was a key player for us last season and we’re delighted to have him for 2024, he’s a leader in the group and a player that young players can look up to with the way he trains and his professionalism off the pitch also.

“I know the fans love him and can’t wait to see him back for another year.”
