Cork City swoop to sign Jack Doherty from Cobh Ramblers

Jack Doherty has completed his switch to Cork City from county rivals Cobh Ramblers.

DOherty, 29, joins the Turner’s Cross side after enjoying a scintillating campaign for the Rams under now former boss Shane Keegan.

The former Longford Town and Wexford attacker scored 18 league goals during his spell at St Colman’s Park.

And he joins a City side who must pick up the pieces from a dismal 2023 after being relegated to the First Division.

But he relishing the challenge awaiting him under City boss Tim Clancy.

“It’s been a long time coming, to be honest. It’s a pleasure to be here and I am really looking forward to playing in front of the Cork City fans.

“I’ve been chatting to Tim about his plans for the coming season.

It’s a big club. This club shouldn’t really be in this division but we are here and we need to take that and try to win the league and get promoted.

“It’s always nice to score goals. I hope to add more goals this season to what I did last season. I like to create things, to get on the ball and, if I am not scoring, I want to be supplying goals for other players.”
