Garry Buckley reunites with John Caulfield at Galway United
Galway United boss John Caulfield has completed a move to sign Garry Buckley ahead of the Tribesmen’s 2024 Premier Division return.
Buckley previously lined out for Caulfield at Cork City where the pair enjoyed unprecedented success together at Turner’s Cross - winning a Premier Division title and a number of FAI Cups.
And since then the player has been plying his trade for Sligo Rovers before ending his stay at the Showgrounds last month.
But the 30-year-old only played 11 times for the Bit O’Red this year having had to nurse a long-term knee injury at the start of the season.
“I’m an experienced player and I’ve won things with John (Caulfield),” Buckley said after joining Galway.
“But most importantly of all I’m a winner and I’m ambitious.
“I’m a ball playing defender who can read the game well and play in midfield if needs be.”
