Teenager Luke Mulligan signs first professional contract with Dundalk
Luke Mulligan has signed his first professional contract with Dundalk having impressed with the Lilywhites’ underage teams.
The 16-year-old Monaghan starlet will combine training with his studies at Ballybay Community College.
And Mulligan was involved with the Lilywhites first-team squad at various points last year and will be now looking to kick on in 2024.
“It’s a great moment for myself and my family to sign as a professional for this great club and I want to thank all of my previous coaches and teammates for helping me reach this stage,” he told dundalkfc.com.
“I’m really looking forward to getting in and working hard in pre-season and to seeing what the future holds.”
Mulligan is the second academy player to sign a professional contract with the club this year after Eoin Kenny penned a deal back in March.
“Luke has made tremendous progress with our MU15, MU17 and MU19 sides over the past couple of years and this is just reward for his hard work and commitment,” Dundalk academy director Derek Boyle added.
“He is a talented player with a great attitude and being in and around the first team regularly, while he studies for the Leaving Certificate, will only aid his development as a player, and as a person.”
