Will Fitzgerald tipped to take game to ‘another level’ by Sligo Rovers boss John Russell after signing new deal
Sligo Rovers first-team boss John Russell has backed winger Will Fitzgerald to shine at the Showgrounds next season.
Fitzgerald, 24, has penned a new deal with the Bit O’Red despite a bitterly disappointing 2023 campaign in the North West.
But his manager is hoping he can help the club push on and make amends this term.
“I’m delighted Will has agreed a new deal with the club,” Russell said.
“Will is a top professional who brings so much to the team in terms of his energy, work rate and quality.
“He has an excellent mentality and is exactly the type of character I want at the club.
“I’m excited to have him with us again as I feel he can take his game to another level next season.”
And the player added: “I’m delighted to sign back with the club for next year.
“Ever since I first arrived at the club, I’ve been made to feel welcome by everyone.
“It’s a great club with even better people involved. I know how much it means to the supporters and community to see it thriving.
“I am loving my football here and I look forward to hopefully making my 100th appearance for the club, which if that happens is something that I’ll be forever proud of.”
