Drogheda United swoop for Athlone Town striker Frantz Pierrot
Premier Division side Drogheda United have made their move for Athlone Town striker Frantz Pierrot.
The Haitian international, 23, is set to move to Weavers Park ahead of the 2024 season, subject to work permit approval.
Pierrot, whose brother Frantzy plays for Maccabi Haifa, joined Athlone ahead of the 2023 season and scored 22 goals in 36 games.
And the striker has also lined out for the University of Connecticut (UCONN) in the United States, contributing significantly to the college's football program.
That led to him being selected in the MLS Draft by the Houston Dynamo.
But he instead opted to move to the League of Ireland to join Athlone where he impressed.
And he will be hoping to kick on with Kevin Doherty’s men next term.
“I'm delighted to have Frantz at the club,” Drogs boss Doherty said. “He had an excellent season with Athlone last year and with all his attributes, I think he will kick on.
“He is going to be a vital part of our team next year. I am also excited by his reaction to joining Drogheda and getting going.
“He is going to fit in well with the group. I can't wait to start working with him."
Drogheda United is delighted to announce the signing of forward Frantz Pierrot from Athlone Town.
