Finn Harps re-sign Noe Baba

Finn Harps have announced that Noe Baba has re-signed for the club on a deal until the end of next season.

The versatile midfielder-cum-defender made 28 league appearance for Harps’ last season.

The club, under the guidance of new manager Darren Murphy for 2024, will be hoping for better next season and Baba’s signature is welcome in this regard.

Born in Cameroon, Baba moved with his family to county Mayo as a child and having excelled in Castlebar Celtic’s underage set-up, earned himself a move to Fulham in 2012 at the tender age of 16.

He then moved onto Birmingham City and Macclesfield Town, before returning to Ireland for a brief stint with Waterford in the Premier Division in 2018.

Baba then spent the next four years playing in Germany, before signing for Harps’ at the beginning of last season.

The 27-year-old contributed two goals for the Ballybofey side, including the winner at home to basement side Kerry FC in September, having been sent-off in Harps’ previous home game, a 4-0 defeat to Waterford FC.

The much-travelled midfielder also has plenty of international experience under his belt from his time in the Republic of Ireland underage set-up, including one appearance for the under 21 side in a friendly with Norway at the RSC in Waterford in 2015.

The Irish squad that night also included future full internationals in the form of Alan Browne, Sean Maguire and Darragh Lenihan.
