James Doona has joined Northern Irish top-flight outfit Glenavon after a year-long stint at Longford Town.

The winger struggled for a consistent run of starts and games at Bishopsgate during the 2023 campaign before leaving at the end of the season.

Doona made just 19 appearances for Stephen Henderson’s charges.

Previously, Doona lined out for Shamrock Rovers in the 2016 and 2017 seasons before spending three years at St Patrick’s Athletic from 2018 to 2020.

He then joined Athlone Town in 2021 before making the move to Cork City in 2022, where he won the First Division.

“I’m delighted to be here at Glenavon,” Doona told Glenavon TV. “I’m really looking forward to getting going.”

Glenavon boss Stephen McDonnell then added; “James is your traditional winger, he can go inside and outside and is very comfortable on both feet.

“We have gained a very, very good talent, he is an exciting player and our fans will enjoy watching James.”

Plying their trade at Mourneview Park, Glenavon currently sit 9th in the Northern Irish top-flight on 16 points after playing as many games.

They have also won their last three games in a row, beating Carrick Rangers 3-1, Dungannon Swifts 1-0 and Ballymena United 1-0.
