Mason Melia signs three year deal with St Patrick's Athletic
Mason Melia has signed his first professional contract which sees the teenager pen a three year deal with St Patrick’s Athletic.
The 16 year old has scored three times in 12 appearances for the Saints and has now committed to remain at Richmond Park until the end of the 2026 League of Ireland season.
"It feels amazing to be officially signed and I'm looking forward to the next three years, I've made this commitment and I'm really happy,” Melia said, speaking to the club’s media team.
“It's been a really good two years so far at Pat's, I felt very quickly after joining that this is the place I wanted to be and I knew I'd progress here, I've played for the U15s, U17s, U19s and the First Team.
Scoring my first senior goal against UCD and becoming the youngest ever League of Ireland scorer was an amazing feeling, it's one of the great achievements I've had so and I'm really looking forward to what's to come."
Melia made his debut in the Premier Division for the club in May of this year when he came off the bench in a victory over Drogheda United – making him the Saints youngest league debutant and the third youngest in League of Ireland history.
He scored his first league goal in May in a win over UCD while still 15 years old making him the youngest ever scorer in League of Ireland history.
