Derry City have confirmed that Ciaron Harkin and Ciaran Coll have re-signed with the club ahead of the 2024 League of Ireland season.

The pair have signed one year extensions to their contracts and will remain with Derry until the end of next season.

Harkin returned to first team training during the second half of the 2023 season having suffered back-to-back ACL injuries.

The midfielder was unable to make a single appearance for the Candystripes this season.

“Despite his own obvious setbacks, Ciaron has been brilliant in our dressing room and he has remained a huge part of our squad,” City manager Ruaidhri Higgins said, speaking to the club’s website.

“Everybody knows what he gives you on the pitch but the character he has shown has been first class.

“I’m looking forward to seeing him continue his rehabilitation into pre-season and getting back out on the pitch again.

“He’s Derry City through and through and he deserves the opportunity to get his career back on track at this club.”

Coll has just completed a fifth season with Derry, having signed from Finn harps ahead of the 2019 season.

“Ciaran Coll has shown brilliant adaptability in different positions for us this season.” Higgins said.

“He has been very, very consistent during my time here and is very popular among the players and staff.

“I’m delighted that he has agreed to extend his stay at the club for another year.”
