Bohemians boss Declan Devine insists that his side will look to finish the season strong ahead of the final few weeks of the season.

Devine watched his side claim a 2-1 win away to UCD on Thursday night at the UCD Bowl with James Clarke and Danny Grant on target.

And they moved into fourth – one place ahead of Shelbourne – following their victory in Dublin 4.

But with an FAI Cup final looming next month and a European spot to secure via the league, the Red and Black are keen to make it a strong end to the campaign.

"There's a hell of a lot still to play for,” Devine stressed. “We have put a full year's work into the season so far, but we want to finish strong.

“We're in a good place at the minute but we feel there's still a couple of gears in us. We can push on and have a successful end of the season.”

And he also stressed that he expects there to be no complacency in his ranks over the coming weeks.

“I wouldn't expect that with them,” Devine added. “You have to rein it in with them sometimes. They train brilliantly every day.

“Their fitness levels are really high, and their technical ability is too. There’s lots of creativity and we've got so much competition for places.

“No matter what happens between now and the end of the season I can guarantee that everyone will continue to work hard.”

The Bohemians chief also singled out Grant for praise after the former Huddersfield Town winger scored his first goal for the club following his return from the UK.

“It's brilliant for him,” he added. “Danny is real quality and it's a difficult one when you come in in that summer window because he had no pre-season.

“We were flying in terms of our fitness, so he was playing catch up.

“We brought him here knowing that he would have a massive influence towards the end of the season and next, so I’m delighted for him because he's a real top class player.”
