St Mochta’s and Kilbarrack United share points in six-goal thriller
Alex Kelly’s 85th minute leveller ensured that St Mochta’s would share the spoils with high-flying Kilbarrack United,
Ross Carrig’s side have enjoyed an impressive start to life in the LSL Senior Sunday following their promotion last season.
But they were denied a big victory over last season’s champions with Kelly’s late equaliser.
Former Bray Wanderers defender Sean Heaney opened the scoring for Mochta’s when he headed home in the 12th minute following a Jake Donnelly free-kick.
But Kilbarrack pegged the hosts back when Deiric Hyland scored a header of his own in the 33rd minute.
In-form striker Gareth McCaffrey then put the Saints back in front on the stroke of half-time with a well-taken penalty for Brian McCarthy’s men.

Although, Kilbarrack found themselves ahead in the second half following Jack Kelly’s brace – scoring in the 57th and 81st minute.
But Alex Kelly was on hand to level just four minutes after his namesake Jack put Kilbarrack in front to salvage a point for the reigning champions.
However, the draw does put Kilbarrack top of the pile on 14 points while Mochta’s stay in third. Kilbarrack have played a game more than second-placed Lucan United who are just a point behind them.
