Bohemians are preparing for a trip west this Saturday where they will take on Galway United at Eamonn Deacy Park in their FAI Cup semi-final) kick-off 2.40pm).

The Gypsies are just one game from another final in the Aviva Stadium having lost the 2021 decider to St Patrick’s Athletic. Keith Buckley was on the field that day and the Bohs captain is looking forward to his side’s trip to the City of the Tribes.

“I’m buzzing for it, I can’t wait. The atmosphere is going to be amazing down there after Galway securing promotion back to the Premier Division,” Buckley said speaking to extratime.com at the Sports Direct FAI Cup Semi-Final Media Day on Wednesday.

“You know, they're flying. They've run away with that league, and it doesn't surprise me as well with the personnel and the management staff they have.

“They have Ollie (Horgan) in there and John (Caulfield). John’s being around this league a long time and he knows what it takes to win games. There will be no player in this league that played against John’s teams that can say they got an easy game.”

The Tribesmen are somewhat of an unknown to teams in the Premier Division with the club having played outside the top flight since their relegation in 2017 – they’ve already turned heads by beating Dundalk 4-0 in the previous round.

Buckley has been with Bohs a long time, having made his debut in 2011 and the midfielder is aware of the weight of time on a club of their stature having not won the FAI Cup since 2008 and not claimed a major domestic honour since 2009.

“Look, we've done OK to get the semi final again,” he said.

“It’s another chance to get to the final it's 15 years without a trophy and for a club this size it's too long. It's way too long.

“We were unfortunate not to come out on the right side a couple years ago.

“If we stick to what we know and how we play and everybody in that starting eleven and subs play their part we have a belief that we will come through. But again, we can't be thinking too far ahead.
