DROGHEDA UNITED

Kevin Doherty’s Drogheda United host basement side UCD at Weavers Park on Friday night (kick-off is at 7.45pm).

Drogheda come into the game fresh from a morale-boosting win over Cork City last weekend – winning 3-1.

And for a time it looked as if they were going to be beaten with City taking a first-half lead.

But Drogheda responded and eventually swatted City aside – aided by Malik Dijksteel’s red card.

The win came at a cost although with Darragh Markey and Dayle Rooney both picking up knocks against the Rebel Army.

Dylan Grimes is also a long-term injury absentee.

UCD

With time running out to save their Premier Division status, UCD must win away to Drogheda United if they are to have any hope of reeling in ninth placed Cork City.

The Students have picked up just ten points this season and are 14 points behind City in the table.

But they can take confidence from last weekend’s narrow loss against St Patrick’s Athletic at the UCD Bowl.

However, they are without a league win since June and have won just twice all season – against Cork City and Sligo Rovers.

Evan Osam and Mark Dignam are set to remain out with injury.

Referee: Eoghan O’Shea.
