Ryan Kelliher pens historic professional contract with Kerry FC
Kerry FC has confirmed that Ryan Kelliher, their leading goal scorer, has committed to a long-term professional contract with the club.
This new contract ensures that Kelliher will remain with Kerry FC until the end of the 2025 season.
In his debut season in the SSE Airtricity First Division, Kelliher has scored 10 goals across league and cup competitions.
Out of 30 games in the 2023 season, he has been included in the squad 29 times, starting 22 matches and entering from the bench in 6.
This contract signing holds significance for Kerry FC, marking the first time a player has signed a professional contract with the club.
Kelliher's journey began in Killarney, where he played with Killarney Celtic. He then moved into the structures of the Kerry FC Academy.
With no senior side available in Kerry at one point, he returned to Killarney Celtic. However, Kelliher rejoined Kerry FC for their debut season in the League of Ireland in 2023.
Commenting on his new contract, Kelliher said, “I’m delighted to have signed a professional contract with Kerry FC... I feel like it's the right thing to do for me and I'm privileged to represent my county wearing the Kerry FC jersey."
Manager Billy Dennehy also shared his thoughts, stating, “I am absolutely delighted that Ryan Kelliher has committed his future to the club for the next two years... 10 goals in a first season in the League of Ireland is remarkable for a young player in a debut year... I think he can keep on improving his all-round game.”
