Pape Habib Guèye joins Aberdeen from KV Kortrijk

In what marks the twelfth summer acquisition for Barry Robson, Aberdeen have signed Pape Habib Guèye from Belgian team KV Kortrijk. 

Guèye, standing tall at 6ft 2”, has put pen to paper on a three-year deal with Aberdeen.

Barry Robson, Aberdeen's manager, shared his enthusiasm about the new addition, highlighting the aspirations for the upcoming season and beyond.

“We have big ambitions for this year and beyond where we hope to be playing a lot of games, getting deep into competitions, playing European football," Robson said.

He further commented on Guèye's attributes, noting, “He has a real presence, is quick, strong in the air and he had an impressive goalscoring record in Norway."

Guèye, at just 23 years of age, boasts a rich footballing experience in Europe.

After netting 25 goals in 61 appearances for Norwegian team Aalesunds, he transferred to Kortrijk in January 2020.

While fans will have to wait a bit longer to see him in action - Guèye will be sitting out the second leg Europa League play-off against BK Häcken due to UEFA regulations - the forward is brimming with enthusiasm for his new chapter in Scotland.

He shared, “I am very excited to be joining Aberdeen and I hope that I can help the team to be successful this season, both in Scotland and in Europe.”

Speaking fondly of his new team, Guèye added, “Aberdeen is a fantastic club with a great history. I hope we can add some of our own stories to that incredible legacy in my time with the Dons. I look forward to coming to the city and meeting the famous Red Army. I can’t wait to get started!”
