Shamrock Rovers sign Tiegan Ruddy from Sion
Shamrock Rovers have made their third mid-season signing with Tiegan Ruddy their latest recruit.
Having brought in teenagers Joy Ralph from DLR Waves and Scarlett Herron from Athlone Town in recent weeks, Hoops Head Coach Collie O’Neill has recruited the experienced 23-year-old defender Ruddy from Swiss side FC Sion.
O’Neill described Ruddy on shamrockrovers.ie as “a very versatile player and I think she will be very important for us in the final part of the season in our efforts to secure a trophy.”
The Hoops sit third nine points behind Ruddy’s former club Peamount United who top the tabel with Rovers having a game in hand. They have been drawn away to Cork City in the FAI Cup quarter-final.
Speaking on her arrival at Rovers, Ruddy said ‘’I am delighted to be signing for Shamrock Rovers. Personally, it is a great opportunity to get back to enjoying my football again. The set-up is very professional, the players and the staff have been great and have made me feel very welcome.”
Head of Women’s football Jason Carey is also very happy to have Ruddy on board for the rest of the season saying that “Tiegan is a fantastic player with superb technical ability and quality. She had a lot of offers to play her football elsewhere, but I am really delighted that she has chosen us. She has a vast amount of experience which will benefit our squad over the next couple of months.”
