Chelsea sign Brazilian Deivid Washington
Chelsea have announced the signing of Deivid Washington from Brazilian club, Santos.
The 18-year-old forward has penned a seven-year deal, inclusive of an option to extend for an additional year, signaling Chelsea's commitment and belief in his potential.
He follows in the footsteps of Angelo Gabriel, another promising talent from Santos.
A versatile player, Washington is known for his capability to function in various roles within the attacking third, although he is primarily known as a striker.
Originating from Gremio's football system, Washington moved to Santos in 2016.
It was at Santos that he truly began to turn heads, especially during his time in the youth set-up, where his prolific goalscoring record led to his swift integration into the senior squad.
His senior bow came in April, marking his inclusion in a Copa do Brasil fixture, entering the fray as a substitute.
Not one to wait around, Washington soon recorded his first senior goal the following month, helping Santos to a decisive 3-0 triumph against Bahia in the Serie A.
