Manchester City welcomes Jeremy Doku from Stade Rennais
Manchester City have announced the acquisition of Belgian winger Jeremy Doku from Stade Rennais on a five-year contract.
The 21-year-old marks the third arrival this summer, following Croatian players Mateo Kovacic and Josko Gvardiol.
Starting his professional journey with Anderlecht, Doku made his debut at 16, and after accumulating 37 appearances and six goals, he transferred to Stade Rennais in 2020.
In France, Doku recorded 92 appearances, 12 goals, and 10 assists.
Internationally, Doku has been making strides as well.
He received his first senior cap for Belgium in 2020 and represented the country in EURO 2020 and the 2022 World Cup.
On joining City, Doku expressed, "Joining Manchester City, a globally esteemed club, is a significant step for me. I'm eager to develop further under Pep Guardiola and alongside such talented teammates."
Doku's progression in European football has been impressive.
Starting under Vincent Kompany at Anderlecht, then transitioning to Stade Rennais, he quickly became an influential player. His agility and dribbling skills have even earned him the nickname 'Belgian Flash'.
His adaptability was evident when he joined Stade Rennais, and even with the pressure of being the club's most expensive signing, he excelled.
In his first season, he broke a dribbling record previously set by Neymar in Ligue 1.
Internationally, Doku's potential was evident early on, progressing through Belgium's youth ranks to the senior team.
His skills drew praise from fellow Belgian and City player, Kevin De Bruyne, who remarked, "He is a diamond in the rough."
