League Preview: Finn Harps -v- Longford Town
FINN HARPS
Finn Harps know that they need a positive result on Friday night when they welcome Longford Town to Finn Park (kick-off is at 8pm).
Harps come into the game off the back of a 5-0 FAI Cup win over Skerries Town in the second round of the competition.
And that victory has seen them secure a date with St Patrick’s Athletic in the last-eight.
But as far as the league campaign goes for Harps it has been an inconsistent one.
After their most recent defeat against Treaty United they now sit six points off the play-off places with nine games to go.
However, they will be confident that they can push for a top-five finish before the end of the season in Ballybofey.
LONGFORD TOWN
Stephen Henderson insists that Longford Town will travel to Finn Harps in a positive mood despite their recent loss at home to Athlone Town.
The Red and Black fell to a narrow 3-2 defeat against their local rivals in their last league outing and did not play last weekend after exiting the FAI Cup in the first-round.
But Longford have been boosted by the arrival of a host of key players to the club as they chase a play-off berth.
“We have players coming back from injury and the club has been great by being able to get a couple of players in,” Henderson said a fortnight ago.
“We're able to freshen the team up with real quality.
“We've been great the last few weeks and that's a setback against Athlone but that's all that is. Sometimes when we get a setback we play terribly but we played well.
“We didn't deserve to lose that game. We're in a positive mood going to Harps.”
Referee: Robert Dowling.
