Troy Parrott secures loan from Tottenham Hotspur to Excelsior Rotterdam
Tottenham Hotspur's Troy Parrott has made a season-long loan move to Dutch Eredivisie outfit, Excelsior Rotterdam.
At 21, Parrott has already showcased his capabilities last season at Preston North End, netting four times in 34 appearances across all competitions.
The forward has also donned the Spurs jersey four times, and on the international stage, he's represented the Republic of Ireland, earning 20 caps and scoring four goals.
Despite having a contract with Tottenham until 2025, Parrott is keen on accruing more playing minutes and goals for the Dutch side. Before this move, Parrott had prior loan stints with teams like Millwall FC.
Niels van Duinen, Excelsior's technical manager, expressed the club's anticipation for Parrott's arrival.
"We had Troy on the radar for some time and went the extra mile to secure his services." van Duinen remarked.
He highlighted that in spite of the widespread interest Parrott garnered from clubs across Europe, Excelsior's vision resonated with the player.
"Troy brings a lot of energy on the pitch, showcasing his passion for football and his eagerness to score."
Parrott shared his initial experiences at the new club. After undergoing medical tests and wrapping up the paperwork, he stated, "I've consciously chosen Excelsior, and I'm genuinely delighted to be here."
The forward was in Rotterdam the previous week to acquaint himself with the club and the city. The club's recent performances made a favorable impression on him.
"All of this reaffirmed my decision to play here."
When discussing the club's direction and style, Parrott revealed, "The discussions with trainer Marinus Dijkhuizen and technical manager Niels van Duinen were insightful. Excelsior's gameplay and its ambitions align well with what I'm seeking."
Born in Dublin, Parrott began his football journey at Belvedere. He transitioned to Tottenham Hotspur in July 2017 and made his Premier League debut in December 2019. Apart from his time with Millwall FC, he has also played for Ipswich Town FC, Milton Keynes Dons FC, and Preston North End FC.
His international achievements include appearances for various Irish youth teams and 20 senior international matches.
