Katie McCabe’s ‘Olympic Goal’ shortlisted for goal of the World Cup
Republic of Ireland captain Katie McCabe’s goal scored direct from a corner against Canada is one of ten nominated for the goal of the World Cup.
Known as an Olympic goal – in reference to Argentina’s Cesáreo Onzari goal scored direct from a corner at the 1924 Olympics – McCabe’s effort sits alongside Sam Kerr’s strike for Australia against England and Linda Caicedo’s cracker for Colombia against Germany amongst the best from the tournament in Australia and New Zealand.
