Newcastle United has bolstered its squad with the signing of Chelsea Academy graduate, Lewis Hall, on a season-long loan.

As part of the agreement, the Magpies will have the obligation to make this transfer permanent next summer, contingent on specific performance-related criteria.

The 18-year-old defender, who donned Chelsea's colours for 12 senior matches, including starting against Newcastle in both Premier League encounters last season, will wear the number 20 shirt for the Magpies.

The young full-back accolades include being honoured as Chelsea's Academy Player of the Year for the 2022/23 season, an award he received on-pitch at Stamford Bridge.

For Hall, this move isn't just about football; it's a homecoming of sorts.

Speaking about his transfer, Lewis remarked, "I'm very proud. Me and my family are Newcastle fans. It's a big club and I can't wait to get started... To now be here at Newcastle, the club that I've supported since I was a kid, I'm honoured and very proud to wear this shirt."

He also expressed excitement about the team's potential, highlighting their past performances and the prospect of competing in various tournaments, including the Champions League.

"There's so many talented players and we've got the Champions League now... I know the team will be wanting to do well in, and hopefully get a trophy or two as well," he added.

Eddie Howe, Newcastle United's head coach, shared his enthusiasm about the new addition.

"I'm delighted to welcome Lewis to Newcastle United," he said.

Howe highlighted the club's commitment to its recruitment strategy, saying, "He is a player we have tracked closely... it's very pleasing to secure him and to add a player of his quality, versatility and high potential to our squad."

The head coach concluded by expressing gratitude to everyone involved in the transfer process.

"I'd like to thank everyone involved for their tireless work to bring in the players we have. "A lot of time, effort and resource goes into a transfer window, but we have a real togetherness at all levels here and I appreciate that teamwork and support."
