Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne undergoes surgery following injury setback
Manchester City's talisman, Kevin De Bruyne, has updated fans on his health following a recurring hamstring injury he suffered during the season opener against Burnley.
Posting on Instagram, De Bruyne shared a photo of himself on crutches with his leg encased in a protective sock.
In his caption, he wrote, "the news after the Burnley game was a really big blow for me physically and mentally. Now the surgery is done I’m ready to heal my body and get back to work soon. Thank you all for the support."
This isn't the first setback for the Belgian maestro this year.
In June, during the Champions League final, De Bruyne was forced to exit the game just 36 minutes in after damaging his right hamstring.
This injury meant that he missed the entirety of Manchester City's pre-season.
Having returned for the start of the season, hopes were high for a fully fit De Bruyne.
Unfortunately, just 28 minutes into the match against Burnley, the 32-year-old suffered a recurrence of his hamstring problem.
Manchester City fans will be hoping for a speedy recovery for one of the Premier League's standout players.
