Tonight's clash between UCD and Galway United in the Sports Direct Men’s FAI Cup Second Round has been cut short because of an unfit playing surface.

The decision came about after a pitch examination during half-time, following worsening weather conditions tied to the Weather Warning put out by Met Eireann.

When the match was halted, Galway United was leading 2-0, with goals courtesy of Edward McCarthy and Ronan Manning.

Information on when the fixture will be played to completion is still pending and will be communicated soon.

Earlier today, Cork City's home fixture with Waterford was postponed until Monday due to the weather conditions.

Separately, due to the Orange Weather Warning, another field assessment is lined up for Markets Field.

This inspection, scheduled for 11:30am, will determine the fate of the match-up between Treaty United and Shelbourne in the SSE Airtricity Women's Premier Division, which is slated for a 17:00 kick-off.
