Bradford City welcome Lewis Richards from Wolverhampton Wanderers
Bradford City have announced the signing of defender Lewis Richards from Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers.
21-year-old Richards has the capability to function as a left wing-back, left-back, and even in the central defence.
His commitment to the University of Bradford Stadium is for an initial two-year term, with an option to extend for another season.
Having started his journey with Brentford in 2016, Richards transitioned to Wolves, making 40 appearances in Premier League 2.
His resume also boasts 21 matches on loan at Harrogate Town over the last couple of seasons.
Richards has represented the Republic of Ireland at the youth level and was named Wolves’ Academy Player of the Year in 2019
Sharing his excitement, Richards expressed, "I am really excited to be here and cannot wait to get going. I could not say no to this opportunity, and am grateful to be spending at least the next two years here. I like to link up play and defend as well. I am going to get my head down in training and hopefully be successful at this club."
Mark Hughes, Bantams' boss, had high praises for the new addition. He mentioned, "We are delighted to be welcoming Lewis to the club, as someone we have been tracking for a long time. Having trained with us today, we are excited to be working with him and pleased to have a player of his calibre with us on a permanent basis."
