Manchester United sign Brazilian Geyse Da Silva Ferreira from Barcelona
Manchester United has confirmed the addition of Brazil international Geyse Da Silva Ferreira to their squad.
The accomplished forward is making her switch from Barcelona, where she clinched the Primera División de la Liga de Futbol Femenino, Supercopa de Espana Femenina, and UEFA Women's Champions League titles in the previous season.
Geyse's winning streak isn't just limited to club football. She was involved in Brazil's triumph in the Copa America Femenina, with the team clinching the title by defeating Colombia 1-0 in the 2022 final.
Expressing her elation over the move, Geyse said, "I am very happy to be here. Signing for United has been a very special day for me and my family. I am very grateful for this opportunity and thank everyone for making it happen."
Manchester United's coaching staff are equally thrilled about Geyse's arrival. Marc Skinner, praising the Brazilian's proven track record, stated, "Geyse is a proven winner on the biggest stages. She has won both domestic and international honours and her winning mentality is an important addition to our team, ahead of a busy campaign across several important competitions. We are delighted to welcome Geyse into our Manchester United family and cannot wait to see her excite our wonderful fans."
Echoing Skinner's sentiments, Polly Bancroft, United's Head of Women's football, mentioned, "We are delighted to secure Geyse’s signature and have no doubt that her addition will help elevate our playing squad to another level. Her winning pedigree is unquestionable, and we are excited to see her flourish here at Manchester United."
