Cork City has officially confirmed the signing of 22-year-old Malik Dijksteel.

Originating from Amsterdam, Dijksteel, an attacking midfielder, has had spells with Feyenoord underage sides, Middlesboro and more recently spells with Whitby and Wrexham.

Speaking about his recent move, he said to CorkCityFC.ie, "Training with the squad over the last few days has been a positive experience, and I'm keen to make my mark in the forthcoming matches. My aim is to assist Cork City in its future endeavors."

Cork City's Sporting Director, Liam Buckley, highlighted the strategic importance of this signing: "Malik's offensive capabilities will expand our attacking options. His integration into our training sessions over the last week has been seamless, and we are optimistic about the strength he will add to our squad."

Buckley further commented on the challenges faced by the team: "The recent spate of injuries has been a setback, necessitating the need for squad reinforcements. With Dijksteel's signing, and some of our academy players stepping up, we aim to fortify our team further. We are also actively scouting for more talent and eagerly anticipate the return of our injured players to the field."

Cork City currently lie in 9th place in the Premier Division, five points off Drogheda United. Next up for the Rebel Army is the visit of Waterford in the FAI Cup Quarter-Finals.
