Friday night see’s the clash of Drogheda United and Sligo Rovers at Hunky Dorys Park (kick off 7.45pm). In the four meetings between the sides last season there were 13 goals and three draws as Sligo secured all three points in the last encounter with a 4-1 win.

Team News Sligo Rovers defender Gavin Peers will miss the match with Drogheda United. The defender was sent off in last week's 0-0 draw with Bohemians in Dalymount Park but will be available for Monday's Bank Holiday clash with Dundalk in the Showgrounds.

Paul Whelan returns from injury and will compete with Danny Ventre to start at right-back. The Bit o' Red are still waiting on Joseph Ndo's work permit application and he is unlikely to be involved in Drogheda.

Corie Tracey and Joe Kendrick are both doubts for the first of this weekends Easter double header. John Flood is suspended for the clash. Apart from this trio Alan Mathews has a full squad to choose from.

Managers Views “We haven’t got much depth to the squad at the moment, so it’s good that a lot of players are fit again, especially with the fixtures coming up. We’ve had very disappointing results recently, but we are training hard which is what we always do. We can only just knuckle down and do our best. These two fixtures will be a tough test as is always the case in this league. Sligo are a good squad and always give us a good game”, Alan Mathews said speaking ahead of the game.

Recent Form Rovers are unbeaten so far this season, The Bit O’Red have secured two draws on the road so far, their best result coming at Dalymount when they held Bohemians to a 0-0 draw. Their only win coming at home to Galway.

Drogheda have only registered a point so far this season, that coming away to Dundalk when they surrendered a two goal lead. They were soundly beaten last Friday in their first competitive match against Sporting Fingal, although striker Robbie Martin managed to break his duct and bag his first goal in the Claret and Blue of Drogheda.
